02/21 Trans Fat in Your Healthy Granola Bar?

trans fat granola bars 300x265 Trans Fat in Your Healthy Granola Bar?When I anxiously waited within the longest line in the supermarket, which meant waiting in the snack aisle, there was sufficient time to look into the well-filled area filled with various bars. Naturally, I acquired newer and more effective items that looked intriguing and started reading through their list of ingredients. While my interest was spurred with a new Quaker bar which has 35 % of my daily suggested fiber intake and consists of healthy omega-3s, things i saw within the listing of elements triggered me to look in the back area.

There is partly hydrogenated oil near the start of the component list, just like some of the other items I skimmed over. What this means is there’s trans body fat during these apparently healthy snacks – you realize, the stuff that induce colon cancer, raise LDL (bad) levels of cholesterol, and reduce High-density lipoprotein (good) levels of cholesterol. It’s tricky that items can claim that they can have zero trans body fat, once the inclusion of partly hydrogenated oil signifies that isn’t the situation.

When you are shopping, don’t think that something is good the way it states the like the leading from the box. Obtain the whole story by turning the merchandise over and giving the component list a fast scan. Choose bars which have short component lists with identifiable components. Look in your cabinets – can there be trans body fat hiding inside your snack bars?
