07/29 Healthy Lunch Ideas
Today’s lifestyles do not accommodate healthy lunches, which are desirable for a healthy life. Eating out can cost more than using your own food, and the choices are not healthy. Eating the same old things day in and day out, such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, won’t do either. The best thing you can do is pack your own lunch and take it to work with you. A healthy lunch should have low fat content and be fairly low in protein as well. You need complex carbohydrates for energy.
Here you’ll find three suggestions for lunches that will keep you going with energy to spare:
1. Veggie burger – this burger is much better for you than the standard fare of high-fat cheese and greasy ground beef. Mix the following into a burger-like consistency: corn, mushrooms, onions and garlic, chopped, a can of chickpeas (drained) with chopped parsley and a TS of olive with salt and pepper to taste. Form patties and fry them in a non-stick pan.
2. Spring rolls – You may substitute spring roll rice wrappers for the regular kind. You can do creative versions with these. Use avocado, which has the right kinds of fat; add pulled duck or chopped shrimp. These can be made with ease and can be rather delicious as well as good for you.
3. Wraps – Like spring rolls, these can accommodate a lot of healthy fillings – use low-fat cheese and flaked fish (trout is a good choice). Bean shoots and salad greens may be combined with these ingredients. The end-result is the taste of heaven.
4. Salads – Salads are always a good idea, provided you don’t overdo them with oily dressing. And don’t just think lettuce, pasta salads are also great (with healthy ingredients, too, like quinoa). Beans and nuts and various fruits may also be used for a healthy option.
Concerning healthy lunch ideas, you may use chicken combined with lettuce as well. The combination may include white wine as well as chicken stock, plus finely chopped garlic. Skinless boneless white meat is a high-protein low-fat option, too. Add red or yellow peppers, finely chopped. And you will have a healthy and delicious salad to eat.
As you can see from the above, healthy lunch ideas are plentiful, provided you are willing to do some creative thinking and are willing to use good ingredients. So, all in all, if you are willing to be doing a bit of work yourself, you are going to have healthy lunches to eat that will keep you fit and energized, too. Once again, keep the fats low, the proteins reasonably low, and the complex carbs high enough for added energy.
Healthy lunch is very important for those who are employees because you are always busy at the office, and you do not have many choices as to what to eat. If you do not take care as to what you eat in the office, you are very likely to suffer any food-borne diseases.
